We began the design process by gathering information. During the project, I facilitated frequent requirements gathering sessions with subject matter experts (SMEs). Although subjects for user research was scarce on the project, we were able to gather qualitative research data through interviews with port officers and first-hand observation at on-site port visits.
Information gathered from SMEs, product owners, and end users became inputs for our designs, which we conceptualized in the ideation phase with low fidelity boxes and arrows wireframes.
We iterated on the designs until all stakeholders reached consensus and we arrived at a high fidelity design. It would then be slotted for implementation in an upcoming sprint.
One of my primary responsibilities was to collaborate with the UX teams working on the other modes of transport to ensure consistency and work with development teams to ensure the UX/UI was aligned with end-user requirements.
As an Agile program, we were constantly improving upon the screens with each sprint and each release.
The UX/UI requirements and expected interactive behavior were detailed in the user interface specification for the next incremental release, which would provide documentation for the development teams during implementation.
